October 16,2010 Alba Truffles Market

The whole town  of Alba has been transformed into a Medieval Village.  Full of music, medieval costumes, regional foods, and a constant aroma of white truffles in the air. The Food and Wine Tasting tent was superb!  Lots of wines from Barolo and Barbarsco areas to taste, meeting the different wine makers.  Typical foods such as salami al tartufu, all kinds of cheeses, hazelnut and chestnut torte, huge amounts of white truffles, and all kids of antipasti made with truffles. Bought lots of stuff for our Thanksgiving Happy Hour! We are ending the day with dinner to celebrate our anniversary!  Salute! Miss you all!

White Truffle Festival Alba October 14, 2010

Today was a beutiful day.  We are spending a few days in Alba, in anticipation for the festivities each weekend for the month of October and first weekend in November during the Truffle Festivals.   We visited the towns of Serralunga, beautiful medieval castle and wine tasting of barolos and barbaresco.  Visited the other charming towns such as LaMorra, Novello, Verduno, Barolo and Pollenzo.  We have had the best wine tastings in Enotecas and the food in the Piedmont area was phenomemal.   Having the tartufo shaved into our plates of risoto, homade pastas, eggs in a cassolet, was out of this world.  Some of the best restaurants in Alba were Osteria dell Arco, Osteria LaLibera, Guido's in Pollenza, and hanging out at the Vincafe and Tabola Calda.
